Carles Gil dream debut makes instant impact for New England Revolution

The New England Revolution came from behind to tie FC Dallas 1-1 in the season opener last Saturday night, with a superb second-half goal from Carles Gil which helped the Revolution earn their first point of 2019. The New England squad lost both their previous season opening matches against Philadelfia in 2018 (2-0) and Colorado in 2017 (1-0), however this time they managed to secure a draw with a powerful shot from the team´s most recent addition, Carles Gil.
This offseason, New England acquired the 26-year-old Spaniard star, and he already showed proof why he deserves a Designated Player status. During the second half of his debut, playmaker Carles Gil, took a touch and smashed it past Dallas goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez to tie the match up in the 57th minute. After the game Carles stated, “Very happy for the team. A difficult field [to play on] and I believe it’s a great start. We’ll try to build on this point when we return home to our fans. It was a very complicated game, but we’re happy with the point.”
Gil finished the game with 3 shots, a decent 76 percent passing accuracy and two key passes which lead to dangerous scoring opportunities. He was praised by Head Coach Brad Friedel, who mentioned, “he has the ability to link up with our players and the ability to finish plays off, as you saw", and nominated Revolution JetBlue´s Man-Of-The-Match. Both teams return to action next Saturday with the Revolution taking on the Columbus Crew in their home opener, who drew at home against the NY Red Bulls. Another challenge for Carles Gil and the rest of his teammates to get their first win of the season, this time playing in Boston alongside their fans.
