Jerome Sinclair helps Oxford United get their first away League win of the season

27/02/2019

Sweet weekend for Oxford United and Jerome Sinclair. The striker started upfront and helped his side achieve a great result away from the Kassam Stadium.

Oxford United finally ended their search for an away league win with a 0-1 victory against Blackpool, which also was Oxford’s first win in six league matches. The only goal of the match gave Oxford United all three points at Bloomfield Road, lifting them out of the relegation zone and inaugurating Blackpool’s first League One loss since New Year’s Day.

Jerome Sinclair was on the starting 11 and was a constant threat for the Blackpool defense, making powerful runs which ignited some dangerous situations and plays. Head Coach Karl Robinson executed a new formation with a different line-up from the previous game, switching to a 4-1-4-1 shape with Sinclair as a holding striker.

United’s hardworking forward Jerome Sinclair, who represented England up to under-17 level, is progressively building his own confidence, expresses proof that he is already a precious asset for Oxford’s squad on helping them stay in League One, demonstrating substantial contribution to the team’s offensive side.

Coach Karl Robinson was delighted with Sinclair and the rest of the squad’s high commitment and energetic performance: “Today the players gave it everything and their mentality, hunger and desire were spot on”.

Although the United boss was straightaway keen to congratulate the fans and the players, he demanded for another team effort when the U’s welcome Scunthorpe at the Kassam Stadium on another crucial battle to avoid relegation. “I thank the players and the fans today but will all due respect we are still in a terrible position in the league and we need everyone together again when we take on Scunthorpe at home”, said the Head Coach. The game against Scunthorpe, 16th with 41 points, will kick-off at 3:00pm on Saturday 2nd of March.
