Cagliari goalkeeper Alessio Cragno has recently proven his high-quality ability to protect the goal, executing exceptional performances for his team which have impressed the media and became the centre of attention. The 24-year-old Italian shot-stopper is touted as one of the best young Italian goalkeepers in Serie A, and cleared it out that Cagliari is his priority and mentioned, “I had to prove I could play for Cagliari and in Serie A. I still treat it as a crucial step in my career. I have to give my best.”
Cragno made his debut at Brescia Calcio on the 25th of September 2012 against Modena in a Serie B game. Later, after several consecutive seasons of superb performances by the young keeper, he saw himself sign a 4-year deal with Cagliari, where he currently plays for, and in September 2018 was given his first senior international call-up for Italy, by manager Roberto Mancini, for Italy´s opening UEFA Nations League matches against Poland and Portugal later that month.
Alessio has been a key player for his team, making providential saves in his last game which offered Cagliari a fantastic win (2-1) against Inter Milan. The opening game of the 26th round of the Italian league Serie A, ended up in a controversial yet thrilling match. Cagliari which battles for survival, is now nine points above the relegation zone, whilst Inter, who´s European competition intensifies, dropped fourth place in the league. Cragno is focused on helping Cagliari stay in Serie A and is grateful for the opportunity, allowing him to grow and develop.
